Video and Television
I'm currently freelancing as a producer at Channel 4 News in London and loving the mix of news and current affairs I get to produce each day. I produced this report with Simon Israel about the impact of the hostile environment policy on the children and grandchildren of the Windrush generation. For this story on Extinction Rebellion we interviewed environment lawyer Farhana Yamin’s husband as he watched her glue herself to the pavement outside Shell, and I investigated the links of pro-fracking geoscientists to the oil and gas industry for this piece by chief correspondent Alex Thomson.
Back home I worked on the ABC's acclaimed documentary program Australian Story for six months in 2017, learning the ropes of television production from a talented and hugely experienced team while doing research for our in depth profiles. Here's a story I pitched and researched including identifying and pre-interviewing talent before moving to London.
I've also done a couple of collaborative video projects of my own.
Kids Talk Refugees
This is a project I worked on with mates Amy McNeilage and Eryk Bagshaw.
We sat down with 18 children between the ages of 6 and 11 to see what they knew about, and thought of, asylum seekers who come to Australia. The children from across Sydney came from a range of social and cultural backgrounds, and two of them were refugees.
The project coincided with the release of the Human Rights Commission’s report into children in detention, and was funded by a grant from the Shipping News project by GetUp!
